The stickies in here suck.
The stickies in here suck.
I understand the idea behind them, but they don't work and are annoying and it's really hard to see if there are new posts.
If you really want to seperate the discussions, how about creating multiple forums under this computer forum? So Steinberg users could have their own sub-forum, a sub-forum for Pro Tools, etc. Wouldn't that make more sense?

They've pretty much killed this forum. I think mainly because they aren't actually related to the stuff that was being discussed in here :/knmy wrote:Or make a "stickie" only forum.
Let's petition hillary to kill them.

Re: The stickies in here suck.
Yeah, we had a thread going about this in General a little while back...
but the thing that was different in that thread was that we first THANKED HILLARY for keeping this forum happening and trying the organize the computer forum so the same questions wouldn't get repeated! So....
THanks Hillary!
But yeah, the stickies aren't getting used and they push every new thread "below the fold" as they say.
can we lose them?

The same questions are going to be repeated over and over because the number of members is on the rise, there will never be a definitive answer to the best pre/mic/compressor/widget for less than $49.95, and the search engine is just this side of useless.

What's useless about the search? I've run this software on quite a few sites of my own and never had any problems with a useless search function. A useless searcher, yes, but the search function works just fine. Learn to use AND, OR, and NOT in your searches and don't expect to get it right the first time, sometimes you have to drill it down a bit excluding things you don't want.
I fully see the concept of the stickies but I don't think it's working. There are just very few posts in any of them and as someone else mentioned it puts the new posts below the fold.

So, can we remove the stickies now then? And by that i mean now, not then. Then could mean anytime. If not now, then how about soon?

Re: The stickies in here suck. Kill 'em?
why didn't you guys tell me they sucked when i first did them and asked if they were good or not?
i will get rid of 'em in the computer forum if you want but as you can see i didn't see this thread til 2 months later.
i'll monitor this thread for a bit to see if i should remove the stickies...

Re: The stickies in here suck.
i don't think they "suck" but we're not using them. i think if we did, it would get sort of confusing. so many different questions can be asked about cubase, let's say. so the thread would get disorganized as there would be many diff't questions in one thread and it wouldn't be easy to find your answer... i've seen some forums with seperate boards for each software, but whatever. i think just nix the stickies and we won't have to scroll past them each time...

We were "mixing with our ears", wanting to see if they would work.TapeOpHillary wrote:why didn't you guys tell me they sucked when i first did them and asked if they were good or not?

I would vote pro on killing or minimizing the sticky threads.TapeOpHillary wrote:i'll monitor this thread for a bit to see if i should remove the stickies...
My $.02.

Re: The stickies in here suck.
agree with that. how about a sticky thread that explains how to UTFSF.andyg666 wrote:i don't think they "suck" but we're not using them. i think if we did, it would get sort of confusing. so many different questions can be asked about cubase, let's say. so the thread would get disorganized as there would be many diff't questions in one thread and it wouldn't be easy to find your answer...

Re: The stickies in here suck.
How about un-stickying them and let them float about/ fall off the page as others do? Be a shame to delete anything that people have put in there.
To be honest they put me off that page a little as there are so many of them on 'This #%^ Computer' and i prefer the more open discussions, and obviously the way threads float around/ fall off. It's easier to know what you'll be reading, what's new and whether or not it's relevant to you.
By you, i mean one, but 'whether or not it's relevant to one' seems like poor grammar.
