MOTU 2408 & 24I/O question

Post by markpar » Thu Sep 16, 2004 8:53 pm

I'm considering purchasing this combo to use with my computer and Mackie HDR 24/96. What I'm wondering is if I can route the 24 inputs on the 24I/O to the 24 lightpipe outs on the 2408 and vice-versa? Anyone know? I keep meaning to call MOTU support and ask them if it's possible, but I keep forgetting and the close at 3pm pacific time.

Thanks!

Inside the computer, yes. At least in digital performer, a track can be fed with any input and be sent to any output. If you mean routing them in real time (signals going to the 2408 ADAT outputs via the computer while you're recording them with the 24IO's inputs), I don't know - I usually don't work that way so I have no experience to go by. You're SUPPOSED to be able to, so you can use outboard equipment....

Umm, I thought the PCI 424 card was set up so that you can plug in three interfaces -- so you can use your ADATs for whatever, and run the 24 I/O directly into the card ALONG WITH whatever's coming down the 2408. That's the principle of the system, anyway.

Best,

Yes. With the CueMix software (which is included) you can route any input to any output in real time.

Awesome! Thanks for the info. I'll definitely confirm this with MOTU support; I got impression that CueMix made this possible.

Thx again!
