Battery Backup... What the hell was I thinking

Post by dino » Sun Jul 27, 2003 4:27 am

This last weekend I came within thirty seconds of disaster... I had just finished recording tracks to send to a friend for approval.. The computer had spun down the drives and I was just playing piano through the sound cards when we had a power failure... All the lights in the house went dim.. My Volt Doctor tester said we were getting 10 VDC down the line.. Fortunately, the computer shut itself down and when the power returned everything was OK. The next day I purchased an APC 500.. I almost lost everything because I didn?t want to spend an extra sixty bucks!!... I was wondering if I was the only bonehead working without a battery backup??...Dean

I don't right now, but once my studio is up and running I'm definitely getting one.

Close call there.
