LOL! I've never made 4 bills a gig...
Shit, 4 bills a gig in that part of the country should be damn near rich! 2 gigs a week's enought to live off of.

I live in huntington, WV. There is probably a little bit more of a scene here, between huntington and charleston. There are quite a few local venues and a few promoters. My friend and I like to get together and mess around (audio-wise) and I do stuff on my own. Unforunately, west virginia is just not a hotbed for music (big surprise!)

WTF?? I grew up in Morgantown... I can't believe I stumbled on to it in the subject line of a post!
Mgtn is really hit or miss-- while I was growing up (a while ago, mind you), I saw every punk rock & indie band under the sun... in Morgantown. I ran FOH mix for many great rock & reggae acts here also. BUT...
It has dry spells. There are years where nothing much is going on. THe main live venue is 123 Pleasant St. They do national acts and the club holds 300-400 people. I haven't lived there in a while, so things may have changed.
PM me if you need some specific info.

I fucking love Morgantown.
If anyone thinks Morgantown is bad off, come to Charleston. This place is an intellectual backwater if I've ever seen one, and it's the largest city in the state.
Seriously, 123 is one of the best bars around, and you've got Mark Poole and Bobby Lane...
Hell, Bobby alone should be enough to keep most people busy. That man has more Rock n' Roll in his little tow than most of us will ever see.
Yeah, it can be a little hit and miss, but it's hard to find a small town that cool. You should spend some time in the rest of WV. The University helps.
Enjoy your time there, bro...
By the way--there is no scene--none--between huntington and charleston. Unless you're into Nascar and ATVs.
