I was also wondering how you got that cool drum effect on the song Easy Beat?

what do you mean? The drums have a pretty consistent sound through the song. There are lots of other guitar and noise effects, though.

oh yeah that's just a plugin delay for a moment on the fills. Supposed to sound like an old echo.

Bill-
Wondering what kind of eq was used on the vocals and were they tracked with the eq or added/subtracted later.
thanks

on We all Belong...
All over the place. we only have the EQs on the board and some plugins. So it was either allen & heath EQs or plugins. The vocals we eq'd pretty heavily mainly to fix harshness and sibilance. Scott tracked a lot with a 58 through a peavey PA into a DI. So it was all distorted and harsh. Most backing vox were like that or into a mic through a guitar amp then the rode NTk on the amp. Backing vox weren't likely eq'd much after that. Depends on the song - they were tracked with EQ and EQ'd later. Barely anything was recorded "clean." I mean that they always tracked it to sound like it should when mixed.

Bill-
thanks again for being here. Can you describe the typical bass track recording. I especially like the "worst trip". How was the bass treated. Flat wounds and Mutes I guess. Is it recorded direct to tape or mic'd up? Cheers.

I can't get past their name. Sounds so jamband-ish.

I agree, not my favourite band name. I ignored Radiohead until 2003 because of this too. I still cannot listen to Ween even though many friends say they are great.

The cool thing with Dr. Dog is you can emphasize the dog and say "Dawckter Daaaouwg" and kind of bend it. Especially fun if they are playing in your town and your getting ready to go out with your friends.

I like the band name! Especially if you consider the word "dog" pops up frequently in the lyrics.

Hey Bill, how are you guys getting those sick guitar tones? I guess I'm thinking off the slide part in We All Belong in particular. I know Scott favors Epiphones. How are you recording those? Are they compressed? The article sounded like there wasn't a lot of stereo micing going on, but that slide part sounds really thick to me! Thanks.

Anyone out there heard a Psychedelic Swamp by Dr. Dog? I hope they re-release that one.
