The Meters rule.

One thing though, everyone likes to talk about what a great drummer Ziggy Modaliste is, and he is. But what makes the band so special was the bassist: George Porter Jr.

The man created more great, catchy, danceable bass lines than Bootsy Collins and Busta Jones combined.

And he used a pick!

How cool is that?

Man, I love The Meters!

When we played in Minneapolis on this past tour, the space had a record player and a lot of pretty awesome records. We played side a of Struttin' between each band....apparently angry drunk hardcore dudes don't appreciate it much....who knew? :P

A whole story could be done on how that Lee Dorsey shit was recorded as well, which of course is the Meters, with Allen singing bgv's and playing piano, and writing the songs. That's some of my favorite stuff along with the Meters.
