I try not to go anywhere else. really. I generally get better answers with less chip-on-the-shoulder attitude here than when I try to go to specific forums for specific needs.

Others I have used on occasion, though, are:

John Sayers Studio Design Forum

TDPRI for telecaster and related guitar stuff. I mostly went there while researching for building my own tele. Some very knowledgeable and friendly folks there. Great for specific answers, but on a day-to-day lurking basis, there's way too much GAS-induced wanking and drooling over everybody's collection for my personal taste.

and, Logic Users Forum. You generally get pretty quick answers from Apple certified Logic tech people, but they have steered me in the wrong direction a couple of times, making me try some really complicated things to accomplish what should be simple tasks. I get better Logic help here from people who don't have to follow Apple's directives.

I like that Albini-related forum but now I can't remember what it's called, nor do I know whether it's even still active.

I've found the Reaper Forum to be almost as helpful as TapeOp

http://forum.cockos.com/forumdisplay.php?f=20

Especially the "Tips and Tricks" and "Recording Techniques"
"Decisions by the Secretary pursuant to the authority of this Act are non-reviewable and committed to agency discretion, and may not be reviewed by any court of law or any administrative agency."

Ditto, most of what I need is right here on the Tape Op boards somewhere. Plenty of good build info at TDPRI amongst other things!
(one day I'll get that thinline tele project off the ground!)

Also had some good info from http://www.vintage-radio.net/forum/index.php especially when it comes to aging esoteric British R2R machines :)

And the same goes for the Mike Dolbear drum forum - another helpful bunch, with plenty of vintage knowledge available : http://www.mikedolbear.com/forum/default.asp

Besides that, a few other music based forums that are frequented by lots of producers / artists / DJs / designers and other generally creative types (if that doesn't sound too precocious) - like
http://www.verygoodplus.co.uk/ (risen from the ashes of the old Vinyl Vulture site) and the Ninja Tune label forum, which has a crazy soap opera style life of it's own

Long time listener, first time caller here...

I can't seem to get enough of Prodigy Pro these days.

Not to seem like an asshole, but isn't it a wee bit thoughtless posting on a audio forum for names and places of other audio forums?

Wouldn't it be akin to walking into your local studio, having a look round and saying "where else can i record around here? Oh really? Got the names and numbers for these folks?"

Just a thought

Well, it's 2 completely different things. AFAIK, it's free to become a user at all of these forums. I guess if there is no cost, then there is no "business" to take away by talking about other cool and free internet gear resources.
