Chicago Child Recording School. Trying to remember a name
Hello
Tried searching but I don't have many specifics to go on
There was an issue of tape op years ago that interviewed a guy who ran an audio recording/composition program at a school in chicago
what was his name?
AND, if anyone knows of anything similar, please point those out too! I'm interested in getting something similar going here in my town and need to research ideas
Thank you!

I've been trying to figure that out but I cannot find it. I even pulled out some old issues. I guess we didn't mention it on the cover or TOC. Wow. Anyone want to follow this up? I gotta get working on issue 77...

Funny, I was just reading that article this morning...issue #47 with Mark Linett, AMC and others.
I am about to start studying at a community arts MA program here in Berkeley so I was delighted to come across the article. Basically the guy's point was "show the kids how to use the stuff then get out of the way".
There's a similar project at a nonprofit here in town I want to check out. I can't find the link but here's one for a sort of youth media project meta-study based in Berkeley: http://digitalyouth.ischool.berkeley.edu/about
Be sure to check out the Press, Projects, and Publications links.
OR MAYBE IT WAS:
Nicolas Collins in Tape Op #61 who wrote Handmade Electronic Music.
http://www.nicolascollins.com/handmade.htm
He has taught at the Sound Dept. at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
Larry, it can't be said too many times: Thanks to you & John for providing the best fuckin' audio resource in the known universe!

Great thanks!Wubbeneezer Garibaldi wrote:The guy's name is Nick Jaffe - his email was listed in the article - nicnite at aol dot com.
I saw from your site that you went to Emily Carr...did you know a guy named Jim Meyer who worked there?
And, no I don't remember Jim Meyer... at least by name... was he in the A/V department? Maybe I'd recognize him
