Post by SirDonut » Fri Mar 10, 2006 6:21 am

Can't find a darn review anywhere for this mic and it's been out for a year. Anyone got a scoop?

I've been wondernig the same thing. The Blue Raven dynamic and the other one is a the Blue Cardinal condenser. They look cool but do they sound great too? The Raven looks like it would be cool for drums with the way it can be positioned.

they've been out for a year or something, right? I'm sure they're shipping... I would think someone would have gotten one by now...

maybe they are so good that when you use it the first time you die of orgasm on playback.

that's gotta be it.

aside from 1 guy's review on Gearslutz, all I could find was this full compass podcast that features the mics in action on two marketing dudes' voices , then they whip out the acoustic guitar and accordion (!!) and go to town on the two mics...

yeah, whatever. it doesn't help.

Have you seen one in a store? If not you can't be sure they are shipping.

I have seem them in a store in the Twin Cities, but to be honest, I can't remember where. It may have been an independent (i.e. not Guitar Center).

They are shipping for sure. I've seen them in the mic case at Sam Ass.

I have the Raven and Cardinal in to demo but don't think I'll have time to try them out for another week. If I can remember, I'll try my best to post some results after that.

I've always heard that if a piece of highly hyped or anticipated gear has not been reviewed, then that is a bad sign. Nobody wants to write a *bad* review for fear of losing sponsorship money, so if a reviewer does not like a piece of gear, they just choose not to publish the bad review rather than take a chance of pissing off their cash cow.

I am not saying that this is what is happening in this situation, but it does seem strange not to see any reviews on these guys...

Kel...bring those puppies by this week, and we can run 'em through the paces on guitar overdubs we've got going on all week.

A new pro-audio retailer just opened up in my small town. Wierd I tell you. But anyways, they carry the Raven and the Cardinal. The box said $199.00, the clerk told me they could "definately" give me a better price. I'm thinking I'll get one and and let you all know what I think. I'm pretty sure my opinon doesn't matter though.
I have some really horrible gear!!!

I have seen one. It was the Cardinal and it was used for live vocals. Probably not the best place for that. The soundman was also not good or attentive and there was a lot of feedback. It did sound pretty good from out in the crowd. Very clear compared to the usual 58.
