Help me find an interface
Help me find an interface
I'm in the market for a new interface and this time around I have very specific requirements:
1. At least 4 inputs up to 8 inputs
2. Firewire (or PCI I guess)
3. NO preamps..just inputs
4. Good converters
Oh..$500-600
I cant seem to find much in this range without those awful onboard pres. I have some nice outboard pres and I don't want to mess them up by going through crappy onboard pres to get to the converters.

If performance and stability are important to you, then I highly recommend the Delta1010. It's a 10 I/O unit (8 analog in/outs + 2 SPDIF I/O + MIDI) PCI card system. The sound quality is pretty decent, but not the best.
I use 2 Delta1010 units for 16 in/outs along with my outboard pres and SoundCraft FX16 board. It's the most reliable setup I've ever had.

The AudioFire12 sure does sound good IF you can get it to work properly. I have a post on here about my nightmares with that unit. I ended up selling it on eBay after working with Echo's tech support for a few weeks. It turns out that I would need to replace my computer to have it work properly!Roboburger wrote:audiofire 12 might be up your alley, with room to move as you grow.

Black Lion mod? Can you tell me more about this? I've never heard of this option and I'm very interested!majortom wrote:I'll second the Delta 1010 BUT To improve the quality get the Black Lion mod, it's cheap and in the end you get a very nice reliable set up for less than the cost of an 002.

I'm all for the Audiofire 12, personally. if you have a Mac it's not really an issue. I have had problems, but it wasn't actually related to the interface. It's 12 in/out with great converters and near-zero latency monitoring for like 600.
I find adherence to fantasy troubling and unreasonable.

They list 2 mods - analog stage & the clock. The clock mod isn't available yet even though they have a price listed. I'll assume that you had the analog mod done. How do you like the results?majortom wrote:Hey
Just go to blacklionaudio.com they give a very good description of what can be done to make the delta 1010 even better. Tom
