I heard this pre the other day and fell in love with its sound. Can anyone point me in the direction of a modern, (And maybe cheaper) pre that would sound similar? Thanx in advance to any and all suggestions.

Check out some of the stuff that Oliver builds over at Tab-Funkenwerks. I have his Bass D.I. and I love it. Never tried one of his mic pres but I hear they are amazing.

Oliver's mic-pres are amazing. I've used the V72s and the V78 pres. Personally I like the V72s better, they sound thicker and bigger to me, but the V78 pres are nice.

Tab Funkenwerk does not make an equivalent to the V676 solid state pre.

He can rerack modules but you'll wait forever.

Dave at Marquette Audio Labs is a good place to go for racked moduels.

Other places are in Europe and will cost a lot by the time you get them here.
