I heard this pre the other day and fell in love with its sound. Can anyone point me in the direction of a modern, (And maybe cheaper) pre that would sound similar? Thanx in advance to any and all suggestions.

Check out some of the stuff that Oliver builds over at Tab-Funkenwerks. I have his Bass D.I. and I love it. Tab Funkenwerk does not make an equivalent to the V676 solid state pre.
He can rerack modules but you'll wait forever.
Dave at Marquette Audio Labs is a good place to go for racked moduels.
Other places are in Europe and will cost a lot by the time you get them here.
