Newbie Waves Question for mastering

Post by asmara » Sun May 27, 2007 3:08 pm

Hello people. I am rather new to ITB mixes and recently purchased waves SSL. by the way the XS key was a pain in the neck to register but it finally seems to work. I have a G5 dual 2GHZ and run Logic Pro 7 with FF800. I have a project that runs about 16-20 tracks total and I am at the final mix stage. Do you typically just insert all 20 tracks through independent mono SSL channels or is there a standard way to use the waves plugs? If you can send me a link to any previous discussion as I have not found a thread that covers this. Sorry for such a simple question. I also have access to a speck mixer that I can send stems to if OTB seems to be the main response.

If you're talking about mastering, then you would apply some EQ / compression on the main mix down channel... as needed.

If some of the tracks need individule EQ or what not, apply some effects to just those channels.

Adding the SSL to all 20 channels would probably slow down your computer.
