I've never player an Elitist, but the guitarist in my band plays a MIJ Tokai SG and an Orville '59 Les Paul.
They are both amazing guitars and well worth the money he paid for them.

Something to consider... neck-repaired LP's:

I's pretty common for an LP to snap at the headstock, but a good repair will be rock-solid and wipe that collector's price right off the instrument. I purchased a '74 Custom for $800 8 years ago and it has given me no grief and sounds and plays as good as any - really an awesome guitar actually. Whether you want a mint non-gibson guitar or a Gibby with a repair is a personal choice, fwiw, I'm happy with the route I took, but they didn't have Elitists back then either..
+1
Here are some that i got in the last couple of years:

1965 SG jr =$360
1965 SG standard= $700
1969 LP Goldtop=900
Oh, excuse me! Do you mind if I date yer punkin?

That is an awesome looking guitar. I really wanted a jr. for a long time and was unable to find a lefty for a decent price. Fortunately my brother in law started making guitars over the last year or so and he made this for me. One piece mahagony body and one piece neck. Gotta love those P-90's.

Good luck with your Tokai I love my 335 style and dig them more than Gibsons.

Anyone else think "Elitist" is a terrible name for a guitar?

What's next? Gibson "Snob Appeal"? Fender "Egoiste"?

My sister-in-law gets me socks sometimes.

I agree, I always thought it was awful. Like the Subaru Imprezza - Oh, I am so Imprezzed! Cadillac Escalade always amused me because it really is an absurd escalation of the trend in modern cars. Same with the Nissan X-Terra, there sure is a lot of eXtrra shit on there!

Ok done. Thanks.

Actually, they say Elite on the back of the headstocks. I have one of the EPi Elite LP Customs. It's a fantastic guitar aside from the pickups. I swapped 'em out with duncans. Other than that, plays great.

Yeah, I'm pretty lucky. He works at Steinway Pianos and works on guitars on his lunch hours. All the finish guys that work on the pianos help him out with paint and the lettering on the headstock etc. It's even finished with nitro.
