jaw on the floor, pt. 2. iphone guitar and piano

Post by Danly » Mon Apr 07, 2008 4:01 pm

wow, i was just thinking about how I wanted something like this..
typed "iphone touchscreen piano" into google, and viola!
damn, now i have to buy an iphone. i think this will work on the ipod touch also.

I've seen a youtube video of someone sliding PT faders around on an iphone as well. any other cool music software for these phones?? check out that guitar program.. I am picturing myself playing it in the subway for money... or at least on long boring train rides, or in a tour van, this would be awesome.

Kinda neat when he uses the phone position/angle to adjust the filter. http://youtube.com/watch?v=NqNwUqNvGuA

Haha, iBand.. pretty appropriate name. I've played that game on the DS before and it is really fun. I like the video of the drum machine too.

Cool toys. I don't know if I can take it seriously, but it's interesting stuff. I would like to have a mini keyboard like that to play when I'm bored.. or maybe to figure out a song idea instead of humming it into the 'voice record'.

These aren't toys anymore than Logic, Pro Tools, Reason, Live, etc. The iPhone is a computer. When the SDK is official and the iTunes app store is up, we're going to see some totally incredible apps designed for musicians.

but you can only run one app at a time on the iphone and it has serious limitations on connecting external things... like midi cables.

I mean, it would make a bad ass vst synth collector but it'll be tough if not impossible to pull it off.

I spoke too soon. Looks like you can get around most of the built in shortcomings of the iphone/itouch by jailbreaking them.

Yeah I guess you're right.
how cool would it be to have Reason or Live on the iphone. .. hey maybe you could make samples from the built in mic. Or make a xlr -> "hands free jack" connector.. ha
