One of the PBS stations in the NYC area was playing a concert film of him last night. I stopped on it briefly, enough to hear him talking about about Joni Mitchell. He said, "back then she was... well... what people now a days would say, my bitch. Sounds kind of crass... but I was her bitch too."

Kind of funny. I'm still not a fan of his music though.

If it's good enough for Richard Linklater, it's good enough for me: http://www.tedstrong.com/oateslinklater.html

That actress Lori Bird was later married to Art Garfunkel, and then after that she killed herself. Poor thing.

Nope. Try again. "You're So Vain" was not about any of the people commonly associated with the rumor.

Or, maybe it was. This particular dead horse is beaten to a pulp at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/You're_So_Vain

At the time, she told Mark Berry, who engineered the track, who it was specifically about. At the time, she wasn't considering it a "composite."

I did a session with Mark about two years ago.

So, did Mark tell you who it's about?

Exactly the answer I predicted when I asked the question.

Ok, old thread,

But what's with all this James Taylor hatin'

One Man Dog is da bomb, seriously damn nice.

Plus one of the funniest Simpsons cameos ever.

I once made the mistake of engaging JBot by asking him, "what made you want to play without a band". His somewhat agitated, border-line confused response (distilled): "I do play with a band, they're just not human". Cool guy.

Seriously. Seen it three times, don't get it. Do they crash?
