I agree,

He gave to me after a show a small club in Connectticut in ... (well, a while ago).

Other than the music the highlight of the show was when a young female jumped to the stage and reached for his 'package' and he stepped a little bit back and offered his guitar instead.

She 'strummed', he fretted and fantastic music came out.

What a musician!!!! What a showman.

I'm still blown AWAY.

Hey, this thread goes way back!

I am also really bad at getting rid of things, I have a closet full of weird stuff that
I don't have time to use much.

Can't part with ever:

Octave Plateau Cat SRMII monosynth. Greatest Cross modulation ever.

Homebrew Gene Stopp ASM-1 synthesizer. Wired for completely modular.
High quality, no chips, you can probably get still get the circuit board somewhere.

Roland System 100 (not the completely modular one) 70s sci fi looking.

My second electric guitar ever a thrashed 70s Tele. Bought in the 70s when
it was just a thrashed telelcaster.

60s Ludwig kit.

Sold but wish I hadn't:

70s Fender Mustang- My first electric guitar.

Tiesco amplifier- My First amp. Gnarly transistor distortion.

Oberheim Xpander- not sure if those strange gaseous displays would still be
working after all these years

Sold no regrets:

Original Mackie 1604

I guess I haven't sold anything else!

I would be uneasy not having certain KINDS of stuff. The actual items seem to rotate every few years, like falling out of love with somebody.

Gotta have:

Several dynamic mics for drums

1 good versatile pair of matching SDCs

2 good LDCs that are different from each other

1 mic that likes my voice (any kind)

laptop recording rig

drums, congas, timbales

larynx

coupla synths for bass, ep, pads

coffee

"Why does the Creator send me such knuckleheads?" - Sun Ra

Sennheiser MD441. I love this goddam thing more every day. And the Helios Type 69s aren't going anywhere either.

I'd never ever ever ever sell my 73' P-bass. My dad traded a stereo reel-to-reel for it back in the day and I stole it from him when I was about 13. I've tried and tried to find a bass that I like playing more than it, but I just can't - I always keep crawling back. It's also the most valuable piece of gear I own besides my 01V96, although I haven't even bothered to see what they go for these days.

I've never been too attached to any particular amp, whcih I'm actually trying to fix this year if possible. I've been playing out of Acoustics for the last several years (150s mostly), but those things are so abundant and I keep swapping mine out for various reasons that they're really almost disposable at this point (which is terrible to say, since they're such fantastic amps!). I've got joint custody of a Sunn 200s that I would be sad to see go, it was my first amp ever. Reminds me I need to steal that thing back!

And as weird as it sounds I will never, ever, sell my MOTU 828MKII. It was the first piece of real recording gear I ever bought, back some 5 years ago or whenever that was, and I've used every in and out on that thing except for the sends. More than likely, if I can confirm they're compatible, I'll just buy an 828MKIII or one of the other FW interfaces with 2 optical bays and just use my MOTU as expansion. If I ever take it out of my rack, I swear I'll find some use for it. I love that thing. I love it so much that I actually don't want to get the BLA mod on it because I don't want it to behave any differently than it already does. I'm sure I can get talked into it eventually, but I don't even like the idea of having to change the clock source on it any differently than I have all these years.

Yes, I love my digital interface. I wish it was here with me right now at work!
