Oktava MC012 Swivel Joints
So, there was a recent announcement by a fellow in Europe at the Electrical Audio Forums that Oktava were considering swivel joints for their MC012s, which would be freaking awesome. Anyway, it's looks like they're thinking about it, but at a somewhat hefty cost (about $114 each). Group buy considerations are in progress over there, some anyone interested might want to chime in:

They do look pretty badass, though:

yeah.... that's pretty expensive, considering how cheap the mics themselves are. But, it looks like a really nice implementation of the whole "elbow" concept. I guess that they figured out that toms are the most popular application for those mics, and responded with an accessory that makes it even easier to use. Pretty killer.
I wonder if you can put the pad on the body side, rather than the capsule side of the swivel.

Heh. Not only did I think of it, I actually suggested it to Oktava when I filled out their questionnaire about goose-neck extensions a few months ago. Something tells me they're not going to send a free "thank-you" pair to me...Gorilla wrote:These things are such no brainers you just kick yourself for not thinking of it first.

A few weeks ago I had a chance to evaluate these. Here's my brief report...
"Yes, I took a look at the swivel mount - I measured the capacitance from the center conductor to the case and found it to be around 18 pF. This is about 1/3 of the value of the capsule's own capacitance of around 45 pF so there will be significant attenuation and HF loss... At any rate, I'm not interested in re-engineering this mount. "

Re: Oktava MC012 Swivel Joints
I have seen the blue hummingbird mics but have yet to hear one or seen many reviews. Have you used them?
Besides, I have a ton of okatava 012s, seems more economical to buy a $70ish swivel joint than a hummingbird that seems to go for twice that used
