Basic 4 (Line) In Interface?

Post by analogcabin » Fri Apr 02, 2010 5:10 am

Hi.

I use an AF12 at home, but for grabbing stuff at practices, or recording small combos, I'd love to grab my 1202 mixer and my MacBook and a basic interface.
Does ANYONE make a simple 4 line in interface? USB/Firewire?
I see nothing out there.

Thanks!

I can't vouch for it, but have you looked at the AudioFire4?

If there's anyone on this board who is aware of the AudioFire 4, I'd suspect it would be e.maynard. The dude loves his Echo stuff so much he can't resist getting a plug for them in whenever possible. (I mean this in an approving way.)

My smartass answer was going to be...

Hey, how about daisy-chaining two AudioFire 2's?

Wait.... I've been holding off on the AF pimping for a good while now.

Anyhow, something like a Delta but USB or Firewire would be ideal.

Thanks,
Erik

I like the (discontinued, I think) TC electronic Konnekt 24 thing. I got one (demo or used, not sure which) for maybe $250 (?) and it's pretty good. 2 mic pre's, pre's and converters supposedly above average, 4 line in, 4 line out, 8 ADAT in/out, can theoretically do 14 in/14 out with ADAT and SPDIF, runs off Firewire.

I got it because it was the cheapest thing with ADAT in/out.

I use protools which won't talk to the TC Konnekt, so with the Konnekt I track into Reaper, which I find a little annoying just because it's unfamiliar. TC ships the thing with a far-outdated version of Cubase, at least by the time I got it that's the disk that was with it.
