Aha! That's the one! :D

All joking aside, no worries. All is fair in eBay and war and I can only assume you'll put it to good use. I haven't shopped for gear in a dog's age, and one of the first things I go for, I end up bidding against a fellow Tape Op'er.... what are the chances?

pair of racked Neotek Series 1E channel strips. So far they sound great but it seems like whoever racked them did a weird job, looks like they will be making a trip to my tech. anyone happen to have schematics for the Series 1E?

broken Akai M8 tape machine for modifying into mic preamps. It will be a while before I have the know-how to tackle that project, but for $10 i couldn't pass it up. for now, it will be a total dust collector.

Just picked a cherry one up used for $85!

*happy dance*
We're the heck did you find a SM7 for $85???!!!
eBay. Right place, right time. $85 Buy It Now.
That's amazing! Do you have it yet? Is it in good shape?
I've owned one for a few years now but hot damn now it's quickly becoming my go-to rock vocal mic. Lately I just used it to track all of the vocals from my band's debut EP instead of reaching for the Microtech-Geffel UM70s that I have on perm-a-loan. That price is SERIOUSLY ridiculous.

Pair of AKG k702.
Got a nuforce iDo headphone amp as well. It gets the raw digital data out
of the iPod and applies some really nice DAC. Has rca and digital outs around back.
It says 24/48 in the lit, but I read that it will do 24/96 but since apple doesn't support it yet they don't publish that fact.
Anyway, cool little setup.

Finally got my second Chandler Germanium pre. The end of 2011 has been surprisingly good after many months with no studio improvements.

Sweet Rhodes! I had one of those Suitcases with the amp ... Cleaned it up, fixed a few things, tuned it and traded it back to the guy I got it from for a bedroom set.

I'm kinda sorta doing what everyone says not to and buying a lotta cheaper stuff, but I have fun bidding for it and checking it out and so far, no real dogs.

Mebbe that's about to change.

I just received a DBX 166A and a Focusrite Trackmaster.

The 166A is said to be useful, the Platinum Series Trackmaster mebbe not so much.

But the prices were good (US$70 for the 166, $80 for the other), so WTF.

Still awaiting my little Bellari, tho'.

Thanks! I got it for under $500, which here in NYC is really amazing. It needs some work (a few new tines, tuning, replacing felts, hammers, etc....) but I'm looking forward to the restoration, hoping to really learn the inside workings.

FWIW, one issue on one of the ones I had (I previously kinda restored a 88 ) was that the keys would stick, badly.

The problem was, the wood had warped. Ultimately, I just sanded the stuff for clearance!

I also had very rusty tines on the 88. I used Naval Jelly and a toothbrush on those.

Finally, for me, a digital tuner with a numerical display really helped when "twisting the springs".

Thanks. Luckily, the keys don't stick, although sometimes you have to really press the keys to get the note to sound (especially in the lower octaves.) Any advice there?

There are tons of mods and adjustments to help the key throw on the earlier models... check the Vintage Vibe website www.vintagevibe.com. He's a little pricy but he's one of the only sources for stuff.

A Rhodes is the perfect example of why a piano is technically a percussion instrument.

Basically, then, you have to adjust the whack attack! As stated above, there are a cuppla sites with forums and parts.

I reckon we are really OT here, but try:
