repair of DAT and 3340S near Portsmouth NH

Post by mokele » Mon Mar 19, 2012 12:05 pm

Greetings! I have a Tascam DA30 mkII and a Teac 3340S. I live just about halfway between Boston, MA and Portland, ME. I'm interested to get them repaired, so that I can migrate some stuff I did a long time ago away from tape.

Any recommendations? The Teac hasn't been used since the 80's, and the Tascam was purchased "recently" (like six years ago) and seemed fine at the time but ate the first tape I put into it. (I hate it when that happens!)

I am most interested to get the data off the dozen or so DAT tapes, as that should contain most of the final mixes of everything I ever did, from 4-tracks to the Record Plant. Oh, and I also have a 2" 16-track tape that I would love to get into Logic or something. It's the only surviving unmixed master from sessions with Nicky Hopkins ca. 1980, and it would be fun to remix.

Thanks,

Jim

These guys might be able to help:

The dat might be cheaper to pick up a used one around $100 if the repair gets pricey.
