italian dynamic mic ID

Post by inasilentway » Sun Dec 09, 2012 7:29 am

Ok. I was just touring in Italy and one of the venues had a vintage Italian-made dynamic mic for bass cab. It was super rad, had a lot of the things I like about an M88 on cab. But like a fool I forgot to write it down and now I can't for the life of me remember the name, Google is not turning anything up. Pretty sure it wasn't a Geloso, I think I remember it starting with a J.

A few years ago I did sound for the Minus 5 and if I remember correctly Steve Wynn had one too, since I remember him raving about this Italian mic I'd never heard of...also like a fool I forgot to write it down then.

Any ideas folks?

It's not impossible, but it is highly unlikely. Italian doesn't use the letter "J".

Are you sure it was an Italian mic?

FOUND IT!

It's a Lombardi 2060. The kind of Beyer-looking one without the ball grille. Guess it's not that vintage.

Pretty cool sound. The spec shows a huge bass rolloff but I don't remember hearing one, maybe there's a ton of proximity effect not shown. I was impressed and the house guy said they sound great on guitars too.

Curious.

Seems like they only sell their product through eBay Italy.
