I played with a guy long ago that played one of these. Kind of a cool sound (though these days I’d rather have a Wurlitzer)

I had a couple over the years. Probably both would qualify as projects. I do like 'em but they're space hogs (when space is at a premium, which it generally is for me), and they do tend to require some attention. The guy's price is less than you'd pay for the pedal and the legs, so no issues on that front.

Could have gotten one for the price of shipping from cousins in California, but didn't have the room either.
Hmm... wonder if it's still in their living room.

I hated helping the keyboard player carry those.. and why did they ask the drummer? I had enough stuff of my own.

Aminds me of the Rhodes Suitcase I had for some years, less the "Suitcase".
Re: Anybody wishing they had a project.
I’ve considered those and similar (I think Baldwin made one too?) as occasionally they show up for cheap, but yeah huge, heavy and project. I already have a YC45D that qualifies.

I don't have room for this, and it's not that far away. A big thing in my small house, no thanks. But maybe somebody? Thought it was worth re-posting.

I truly love my Yamaha CP70. It's a dream to play. They suck to move but I don't care what anyone says, I would rather lug that all day long than have to play a single chord on a Roland RD700 or the like.
It was also a great little thing to have while living in an apartment. I could play first thing in the early morning before anyone else was up and it wasn't so loud that it would disturb anyone. Beautiful little gems.

Good for playing late at night when the kid's asleep as well. It has a lovely unamplified sound IMO.GussyLoveridge wrote: ↑Sun May 16, 2021 7:03 pmI could play first thing in the early morning before anyone else was up and it wasn't so loud that it would disturb anyone. Beautiful little gems.

Re: Anybody wishing they had a project.
I had one for a while and quite liked playing it. I don't think I ever recorded with it though. Gigged with it once and that was enough.
I replaced it with a cameo spinet piano. It's got a similar scale and string arrangement - singles in the bass, double in the treble. It's a truer piano sound even though it's still a little weird.
I've never gigged with it but that was my intention when I bought it. I installed a pickup and some internal mics. It's light enough that two people could move it on a dolly and it fits in a mini van. Stairs at the venue would be a deal breaker though.

Pure magic. I shared a studio with one of these in Chicago many years ago - I will have one again someday.
Totally unique sound, all its own thing... a deep, nuanced instrument. And preparing it John Cage style yields some truly incredible results. Electric gamelan.
Wonderful stuff. Hope someone can grab this. They are very easy to work on if you have any piano tech experience - this is a steal.
