Went to the local synth swap meet, hoping to score an old Korg/Yamaha vector synth.
Walked away with Mike Metlay's old TG33.
Mission accomplished.

TG33.
Such a charming synth. Extremely limited in a lot of ways, but it definitely has a thing. The random patch generator on it is both fun and useful. I've ended up using randomly created patches in songs more than once.

Shoulda had him sign it.

A cheap (AD Musica) fretless 5 string J bass.
Action seems reasonable, I'll need to draw some lines on it that I can ignore while playing out of tune.

Yes. I tried to learn righty, could not do even a simple chord that way.

I always wondered, given those kinda issues, if it's more difficult for lefties to play keys?

Not the same at all. I have no issues with keys, drums, etc. Just stringed instruments.

it is interesting how different people's minds work - i have an artist friend whom I've done lots of work with who plays right everything - except drums!

I didn't even know it did that! I spun the wheel a bunch of times last night - it seems to give me a bunch of flavors of haunted calliope. Which might actually be cool for this witch house remix I've got in the queue!
