That's a BIG if. Has anyone on here heard it yet? I'm really curious. I can't see why Quantegy stuff is suddenly A) competely different sounding and B) completely unreliable. If that RMGI stuff plays back without dropouts, I'll be a happy man.

I have a reel of it here at Third Monk and I have yet to record on it. However, I will be within a few weeks as I get closer to having mixes finished of a current project. Fingers crossed, this stuff should be the good stuff. I bought it from a dealer in Oregon that is selling it by the reel on ebay.

All I know is that the last thing I mixed to Quantegy tape was fine coming back off the machine at the mix and had dropouts in it when the tape got to mastering. The digital copies made off the master recorder didn't have the dropouts, so I KNOW they weren't there. I know several people who've had similar experiences. Bummer.

What about you, Tony? No problems with new Quantegy at all?

All kidding aside, I really haven't had problems with about 10 reels of GP9 1/4".
