swamp-thang is a pretty successful attempt at capturing the fender brown face trem sound.

Try running your tremolo in the amp's effects loop instead of in the regular pedal chain.

I am a big fan of the diamond trek pedal. Great buttery tone and suPer versatile.
Tap tempo is sweet too.

The analogman? modified Boss TR-2 is kind of the bee's knees. I've been using mine for about a year now.

SupaTrem is awesome. Versatile. Internal trimpots to tailor it to your sound.

Only issue are, (a) is that it adds a pretty noticeable boost in the high end when it's behind an overdrive or fuzz pedal. I haven't fig'd out how to tame it, but I'm working on it, and (b) it's HUGE. Take up a lot of space on the pedal board.

agree!

Really useful controls, tap tempo, wide range of speeds, no noise, pretty transparent and built like a tank. I love mine.

Sorry to throw in another option but I love my Freakshow Ripple. Its got a little boost in it so you don't get lost, which was not true of my old Boss Tremolo.

sears wrote:The Seymour Duncan Shape Shifter satisfies my needs. I listened to demos of them all and it does different envelopes really well and stutters like anything. I got it because I miss the tremolo on the AC-15 I used to have, and I use the Shape Shifter for that and other things all the time now. I think it hits a sweet spot of price and features. The Seek Trem is cool but it sacrifices some of the EZ envelope shaping tools in order to have that sequencer. It was also a lot more expensive.
couldn't agree more. love my shape shifter. great tap tempo tremolo for the price. very easy to use and very tweakable.

Look into the Black Cat Mini Trem; that's a nice pedal, very smooth effect with tone shaping capability. Really nice effect. Kicks the crap out of amp tremolo any day...

The Sparkle Drive Tremolo is great for the Fender type Vibrato [sic]. It actually uses an opto-isolator circuit like BF Fender amps. It has a wide range of adjustment, especially the newer 4-knob version.

DR. SCIENTIST TREMOLESSENCE!

Otherwise I've seen the Boss TR-2 hold its ground on pedalboards with piles of boutique stuff.

Still... Dr. Scientist.

Another vote for the SupaTrem.

the Mad Professor Mellow Yellow Tremolo is a great sounding box. It has an output control for gain matching. My current favorite.

The 4 knob Voodoo Labs one is very good also for the money.

I've got the Danelectro Tuna Melt and rate it highly for such a budget pedal. I bought it to use with my Pianet T electric piano, but it's equally useful on guitar. I'm a fan of the hard/soft switch for those DJ-mixer-transformer / pickup-selector-switch on/off effects when in hard mode.

Demo on youtube which gives a good idea of the sounds it can do : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YtA9quZstLs
As far as bang for buck goes, I agree. Same with the newer Danelectro cool cat tremelo. I think they sound great.

This thread affirms my belief that we live in an age with more amazing stomp boxes than anyone has time to play. Which is really cool. So many good choices.
