Yes, it will work. In 1967-71 era it was our bands only option. We figured that's why Fender amps had two channels. Yes, we were young and naive, nobody got killed, yes we got lips shocked.

Now there are cheap options available that weren't available back in my high school days.

When I first started out in the early 90's I used a Peavey 100 Watt tube amp and share mic with an impedance converter. Weren't a lot of options then either and not a lot of knowledge.
