I used to use the D112 religiously on kick. On a whim, I decided to give a Shure Beta52 a try. I think I like it better. To be fair, I did not a/b the 2 mics on the same drum, but it seemed to me that the Beta52 was a bit nicer sounding. That being said, I would not be upset if I was forced to use a D112, I think it's a great kick mic.

the d11 is different. it's like a newer, beta 52 lookin akg mic.
i haven't heard it but i can tell you for that price range you can get a sennheiser e602 and man, i will never pick up another dynamic kick mic before trying that one. i love it on pretty much any style of music, any kind of kit and kick.
but, what can i say? i'm an a-hole for posting on a thread about a specific piece of gear that i haven't heard or used.
at least i got the model right
