I liked the idea so much that I threw this together-
Here's a SPICE plot of the frequency response at maximum depth. (The model assumes that the mic impedance is purely resistive, so take it with a large grain of salt.)
It's intended for a 500ohm impedance mic feeding a pre with a 4.4Kohm input impedance. Turns out I didn't need the depth adjustment, I run it at max notch all the time. Works great with my mic and BD, probably need some tweaking for others.

Which mic, Dave? One of your own designs?

One of those really cheap Superlux BD mics, the PRA218. I just pretty much tried to duplicate the EQ I was always putting on it, taking out the boxiness and bringing up the boom and whap freqs.

It'd be cool to have a rackmount chassis loaded up with these. A Kick channel, tom channels, snare channel or 2 and 2 hi hat channels. Instant drum EQ.

I don't think the other elements of the set really lend themselves to that. I screw around with the EQ on the other parts of the set a lot more from song to song. Plus the BD has a boatload of signal to throw away.
