I was just curious as to what it was since it was so big and also since it was the only mic you could see in Grandaddy's drum room in this video. Thanks

It's about 3/4 in as you can see from the timeline in the pic.

Looks like what others said but I'll say it's an ADK? Or if the place had some real cash: a Calrec Soundfield?

Screw the mic what's up with that toy piano, harmonium thingy? And what does that sound like with the mic way over there?

Looks like an MXL.

Groove Tubes? I think the Groove Tubes mics had shockmounts like that.

That ring shaped shock mount and the heigth of the windscreen area have got me thinking AKG C422, a stereo C414.

Maybe we can get the folks at "CSI" or "Crossing Jordan" to zoom way in and suddenly create new pixels revealing the culprit ... er, microphone. lol

It definitely looks like an MXL 2001 - since they often (always?) ship with only a clip, no shockmount, that would explain the weird looking mount. Maybe that's one of those universal shockmounts made by that guy Gary who used to drum for the Pavement? I think he's in the same neck of the woods as the Granddaddy folks.

I'm asking because I don't know. I thought it was interesting that they recorded a lot of the basics for the albums in this house.

at first i thought it might be an ADK mic, but the logo being where it is leads me to be 95% sure that it's a MXL 2001.
