Making your own simple gear... any thoughts or help?

Aside from cables and basic repairs, dose any one out there actually make their own gear?

Would any one like to post some schematics of basic things we could all make to save our selves a little money and become more familiar with things like wiring, seeing how it's kind of an important thing to learn any way in this business?
