You mean the original or the Brit Mod one?

I have no clue...

I've been reading boards, "Behind The Glass," and other things- and I hear about it- but I have no idea which one they are talking about.

I think there's only one, no? With a mod, or without, but basically the same unit otherwise.

Those are them, and like mentioned above, basically the same unit, one with a mod for some alternate 'sounds'.

A great, very flexible compressor. High on my to-get list. :)

Yeah, "flexible" is the key word....

I can use that box on just about anything and be happy with what comes out the other end...

I only have the stock EL8s w/o the British mod...

Am I missing a lot?

It's my understanding that the Brit Mod adds an "all buttons in on an 1176" mode.

I've had mine since before the mods were offered, and I've never felt the need to send them in and have it done. Not that they're bad additions, but the units work just fine without. They are definitely a swiss-army knife in a rack.

Honestly, I have yet to find a "useful" application for the Brit mod. Could be that I just haven't "found" it yet though...

I could live without my brit mod..the stereo link actually affects the sound when on without another EL8 attached..or maybe with another as well..I only have one..

the compressor is very cool..it has this unique sound..versitile..its a little flat and grainy compared to the uber expensive all discreet comps out there..but I mean that in a good way..nothing will do it ALL but this is definitely something that hasn't really let me down..the knobs are big which is great..Can't see anyone really hating it..

Gray, boxy, thin, Two-dimensional piece-o's!

Avoid them like the plague.

Get a Blackface 1176 and be done with it!
