Bass and Cubase

Post by dgerch » Tue Nov 21, 2006 4:45 pm

Why is it that when I'm recording guitar tracks into cubase it doesn't stress my system out at all, but when I record bass tracks it eats tons of processing and gives me hiccups and pops?

That makes no sense at all. Sounds like you've got too many effects running or you need to adjust your latency. That, or your drive is having overrun issues.

But, the bass itself wouldn't cause your system to stutter unless it's a cpu/hdd intensive VST-i

Not running any plugins. Just a miced bass and a simultaneous direct track...
I though that possible the waveform or power might have entered into the equation. I don't know. It's bugging me though.

Are you talking about clipping? If your CPU is going nuts you must have something else running at the same time. If you're using XP try this site:

If your audio is clipping then turn down the gain. That's pretty much the only advice I can give on that.
