Sorry it's been a while. We'll run this one for Thursday, April 19th. So, what did you work on today?

I'm still finishing up Wednesday, so I'll go with that for now.

Let's see...
I slept kinda late because my schedule has been way off lately.
I hid in the office for most of the afternoon answering calls, e-mailing and such.
Decided I would finally try to learn up some bass this summer so I bought a stupid-cheap axe online... Fullerton (anyone heard of 'em?) Ventura Deluxe for $89 (with a claim of $399 MSRP). Added a hardcase, instructional DVD (I know, I know, that's lame) and cheap strap for a total of about $150... I'm kind of excited. I figure I'll get a better instrument later if I enjoy it or even actually get good at playing.

Then I actually put in some studio time. I worked with a student on remixing a track of 'glitch music' that she made as an entry into an electronic music competition our 'Electronic Music Association' held earlier this semester. It's call 'P.S.I.' and I'm sure the remix will show up on that site in the next day or so, along with the previous versions.

Oh, and somewhere in the middle I had to help out the guy trying to put together the sound system and setup levels and mixing for a concert Friday night. They rehearsed this evening, and appraently the wireless mics are dying... again.

That's all for now - I really must head home and feed the kitties.

working with a band that is a regular client, tracking another song (tracked one whole song yesterday) and then mixing both of them today... will be a long day... I hate mixing the same day as tracking, but that's the deal when people don't have a bunch of money.... also have to get the piano tuned. Joel H is coming in tomorrow for the weekend for some tracking, which should be a blast.

Finished up with Bernie Worrell which was amazing. He is an amazing person.... ...today finishing mixing a band called "care bears on fire"... check out their myspace page... it is two 11 year old girls and a 12 year old boy playing punk rock and getting insane press.... They are great kids , so it has been fun. Today is last day of mixing.

Consulting / teaching pro tools to a voice over company in the morning. (We just finished mixing a three language audio tour of the new Greek and Roman wing for the Metropolitan Museum of Art)

Recording vocals for a singer songwriter I've been producing named Francesca Lee and then going out tonight to see another songwriter I'm producing named Zach Blizzard who is performing at a small club in North Beach.

There have been a lot of good young songwriters in SF lately, which is cool. It's starting to feel a bit like a scene here...

Getting fed up with guitar solo for solo song so recorded the whole thing with my mouth (sang the solo), threw it up an octave (then copied it and went back down 5 steps for a neat double thing), ran both through Guitar Rig and made the most annoying solo I've ever heard (outside of WEEN)... I fucking love it!

Oh, and I'm stuck behind the scanner at work the rest of the day.
