Which Ramsa mixer series is best?

Post by Lost on side » Sat Jun 02, 2007 5:12 pm

I am in the market for a mixer to go with my 1/2" Tascam 38, and Ramsa mixers have caught my eye. Which series is their top line, which one should be avoided, etc? Thoughts, opinions......
thanx

I don't know which should be avoided, but I have a WR-8428 and I think it's great. The preamps have nice high end without being edgy at all, and the low end goes nice and beefy. I actually use the EQ and haven't felt the need to buy any outboard EQ units. It's really simple to maintain and is built like a tank.
not to worry, just keep tracking....

I've got a WR-S 4412 and I love it. Love it.

I've used the WRS series extensively live. Seriously good consoles for insanely cheap, these days.

I don't think there's a lot of difference in quality between models - - they're all great.

What different models get you are different numbers of channels and submix buses, which are indicated by the digits in the model number. So, figure out how many channels and submix buses you need, and that'll tell you the model number to hunt for.

I've had nothing but good experiences with Ramsas...owned two so far. They are a step above Mackie/Allen & Heath and are truly workhorses.

The DA7 is a fantastic digital mixer and can be had for under $1000. The WR 820B is a 40 input mixer and the preamps are very good. These can be found for $500!!!

Thanx for the responses. It seems like there are a few different lines, but maybe they simply changed/updated the look because the model numbers are all so similar (wr-s4412, wr-8428). Perhaps newer will equal better (generally)?
