Post by 29 Lives » Wed Oct 24, 2007 6:18 am

i just got my laptop up and running...transferred files for about a week...and now comes the time to get a good sounding, reliable and, most importantly, CHEAP! interface. Any recomendations?

Not sure what DAW you're running (presumably NOT ProTools), but I recommend the Audio Kontrol 1. Tiny footprint, rugged build, sounds pretty nice, decent software bundle, and NO WALL WART.

I had a MOTU MkII USB 2 unit and I would not recommend it because of the high latency and big cpu consumtion(spell?). Otherwise it worked really well. Regards

thanks.....yeah, i'm using cubase sx4 (that's what i learned and i'm sticking to it.).....i've also noticed that alot of the newer interfaces are coming with 24bit/126kHz as opposed to 96kHz. i'm used to that because i use an m-audio delta 1010lt on my tower. how much am i really gaining in fidelity by jumping from 96 to 126kHz? is it even noticeable?

sorry, yeah 192kHz...is this hundred extra kHz gonna open up a wormhole to fidelity nirvana or what?

i have no idea, i don't bother with anything past 44.1 unless i'm doing sound for picture (then it's 48 ). :D
