I played a bunch of the Paul Stanley stuff yesterday during a break in my session. My sides still hurt!

Man, that Paul Stanley stuff is...uh...interesting. He sounds like Dr. Rockzo the Rock 'N' Roll Clown from Metalocalypse.

For a solo'd voice, that was amazingly better than I thought it would be!

Hey now! I saw Diamond Dave just over a year ago at a Casino gig - it rocked so F'n hard I couldn't believe it! I wasn't sure what to expect. As a DLR fan, I was a little worried about him befouling his legacy. His singing was great! His band totally slayed! He ninja-twirled that mic stand like no-one's business!

Besides music, he is an interesting guy: nth degree black belt; renowned alpinist/mountaineer/rock climber; backpacked through the amazon. I'd love to see a DLR 'Survivalist' show ala Bear Gryls or Les Schroud

and as if all that wasn't enough, this is the guy who used the phrase "delivering the groceries at 138 beats per minute" in lieu of "fucking".

Here's a clip from a show I directed of DLR and his band in '06.
It's the second the last song of a 90min set, so he is a bit winded, but you get some idea of what he can do now.

This has gone viral...One radio station played it this morning, then played the screaming parts over The White Stripes Iggy Thump. Then, In the afternoon, I heard the scream on another radio station.
Of course, I remember the Linda McCartney track someone ripped off the soundboard of her vocal on Yesterday. Gawd awfull it was...
What do YOU create?

I look forward to some Elvis Costello vocal tracks, or Joe Strummer, or Michael Stipe.

I think this sounds great. Not everyone's cup of tea, but I think Roth was INCREDIBLE, especially early on. (I never drove an IROC, I don't have a mullet, I like lots of different obscure, blahblahblah).
Roth was great.

Yeah. He was great. But it's also funny. Why? Because everything that he does is so over the top.

It sounds just like I thought it would. It's just out of context. Any singing with character, taken out of context, is gonna sound odd.

Let's pull out, say REM's classic "Everybody Hurts", just the dry vocal... (at least Roth is self-deprecating)

or a slobbering Joe Strummer "singing" "White Riot" (I love the Clash)....

I think most dry vocal tracks would sound as odd, but perhaps someone will post some of their own dry vocal tracks to prove me wrong? 8)

I don't even want to hear the "Everybody Hurts" vocal with the band...
