M-Audio Solaris Mod?

Post by 5thString » Fri Apr 18, 2008 5:00 am

Hi.

I have a brand new Solaris (that I like a lot btw). Reading about it here and there, it seems to me that the capsule is pretty good and I suspect that improving the electronics could build up an even nicer piece of gear.

Does anyone know of a modification I could do?

Man, I almost won a pair of M-Audio Solaris on Ebay for $230! but some douche bag jumped in at the last minute and got it for $232. I don't remember crying that hard in a long time. Not really, but seriously.

$232 for a pair?!? Wow, I got mine for $195 and I thought that was a bargain already...

Hmmm...... I have a pair of these... maybe it's time for them to go under the knife.

I'm no expert, but you could start by replacing all the capacitors in the audio path with higher quality ones.... then the transformer if it has one.
Everything louder than everything else.
