Bass Mini Lessons/Video Tips

Post by Gregg Juke » Tue Jan 11, 2011 9:16 pm

Hey Guys,

Check out the first couple of pilot episodes for our upcoming series of musical "video tips." The first sessions feature Tony Blasting on bass.
We will be uploading content on drums, guitar, percussion, harp, keyboards,
recording techniques, and more.

Let me know what you think, and leave some decent comments if you like them... (URL's below)

Thanks,

GJ

I like 'em. Your talent is engaging and I think the "tips" are pretty useful. My favorite part is that he fucks everything up slightly when he's showing us. He gets the point across just fine, but it kindof humanizes it and makes it feel like something you can practice for yourself. Even if you're not gonna nail it right off the bat you can still be as cool as Tony Blasting. Keep em coming.

Thanks Snarl-- Your comment is insightful and funny at the same time (much to our chagrin as producers/engineers, Mr. Blasting is a "One-Take Man").

I like the fact that it was succint and to the point.

Greg,
either you're a master with compression or your player is a master of dynamics..

BTW nice, quick and to the point

good job

Thanks Niccolo-- If you replaced "master" with "pretty good" on both ends of that equation, I think you'd have it about right; I can't remember what Bruce and I used, and I forgot to include it in the "signal chain notes," but there is a slight bit of plug-in compression on Tony's bass track...

Thanks for your kind comments!

good stuff man. I really like the vibe and personality of these videos. Plus, being a guitar player (read: non-bass player), i'm always happy to grab any tips i can about bettering my bass-ness. Thanks!

Thanks Nick! Appreciate the feedback...

We have a couple of guitar-oriented videos coming out next; keep a sharp-eye peeled. As soon as we get a few minutes between other commitments to finish the editing, I'll get them up. The next set features Bruce Rounds on guitar; one video on some rhythm concepts, the other on some soloing ideas...
