Post by joninc » Wed Sep 21, 2011 5:09 pm

hey all - i am currently using a radar 24 w/nyquist converters into cubase via lightpipe (rme hammerfall card).

up till now i have done most stuff at 48k but was wondering if it's possible to do 96k through lightpipe or not...

Yes.

You need to have hardware on both ends that supports high speed either "double-wide" or some other lightpipe protocol. SMUX is another protocol for higher sample rates.

If you do this, you end up with only HALF as many channels.

So for every lightpipe you can get :

44.1kHz and 48kHz - 8 channels

88.2kHz and 96kHz 4 channels

SMUX 176.4 and 192kHz 2 channels... not sure about this last one...

Cheers
Howling at the neighbors. Hoping they have more mic cables.
