Cheap 2 track I/O card options?

Post by Chris_Avakian » Mon Mar 04, 2013 1:33 pm

Anybody have any good suggestions for a 2 track pcix I/O card for a ppc mac?

Heres where im at....

I mix mostly on my mixer if possible (Sound Workshop 1600) Its 16 bus, 20 channels.

Right now, im running 2 MOTU 828mkII interfaces They would be PERFECT if i wasnt using 2 inputs for my mix bus, and 2 outputs for my return.

Im having to use 2 inputs, and the main outs of 1 of the 828's to record my mixes, and for playback. (basically like a 2 track deck)

Id like to just find a card that will replace that so, i can utilize all 16 buses, and both pairs of main outs to give me a full 20 channel mix surface.

Thoughts? Doable? Stupid?

IM using a g5 mac. Dual 2.5ghz, with Digital Performer. I believe i have pcix slots

Hi,

I would stay away from doing this on the same computer.

Simply because you'd be running into all kinds of problems running that many audio streams in and out with tho different cards.

I'd print to another system instead, and then import the mix back into the Mac, if you needed to do so.

Cheers

Hmm... maybe another 828mkII instead?

having a 1/4" deck would jazz up the place, though.
