Re: RIP Chris Garges @cgarges
Carrie Garges has read this thread. She knows that the TOMB was a big part of Chris' life and I did me best to represent the forum.
Re: RIP Chris Garges @cgarges
Last night I was reading a TOMB thread with Chris and Joel Hamilton discussing Delta Labs units. This morning I found this thread from February. I briefly talked with Chris at TapeOpCon 2007. He was genuinely a truly nice guy in the time we chatted. And the reason I own a Delta Labs 1, 2, and 3 haha!
Rest in peace, Chris.

Just now reading through all of this and it's such a touching remembrance of one of the best.

We lost Chirs one year ago today. Still, the music plays on.

Me too. I've come to reacting to crazy things with "that's bananas" as a little way to inject him into daily life.

the present day recording engineer/drummer
Re: RIP Chris Garges @cgarges
I bought some monitors from Mitch Easter recently and that rabbit hole brought me back to the TOMB for the first time in several years. An article about Mitch mentioned the news about Chris.
I mainly knew him through the forum but one day on a whim, I bid on a Topaz board on eBay and won it. Realizing it was close to a Chris I reached out to him. He not only knew the board but had spent a ton of time on it. He offered to meet me at the studio where I was picking it up. So I drove down from Kentucky, met him at the place and it was like he’d known me his whole life. He told me the history of the place (I can’t remember the name now), the board, a bunch of anecdotes and we had a really great lunch just talking drums and recording before I headed back. One of the few people on this board that I’ve met in person and I can attest that he was absolutely as genuine as all the words written here about him claim. I know it’s been a few years but I wanted to say how sorry I am to all who knew him so well.

[Asked whether his shades are prescription or just to look cool]
Guy: Well, I am the drummer.

Thanks for sharing this. It's a perfect characterization of who he was.T-rex wrote: ↑Thu Mar 21, 2024 6:56 amI bought some monitors from Mitch Easter recently and that rabbit hole brought me back to the TOMB for the first time in several years. An article about Mitch mentioned the news about Chris.
