Agreed.
Even the look - light grey rat fur and the not-good red knobs.
they were dull but a OK platform on the clean channel, but the dirt and the boost sucked, eh, rat balls
At least w/ the HRDX ya got tubes
but they were pretty indestructible, and a transportable 1x12"
(it was my first new amp I bought, was replaced by a used Silverface Bassman 50 and a 4x12" Sound City cab with Celestions
and I sold that Bassman to fund a Silver Jubilee that I still have
I only ever bought 2 other guitar amps new (both Vox) and a new Rumble - all else is used)

If a fellow wants a "Budget..." option to get his "Circa '95 Ronald Jones..." on?
There are few options quite as solid as that head and the stereo 4X12.
Re: Fateful recording
Nobuddy gave me shite.
I bought new and played that combo, and inna band setting it was bright noise - my Jubilee ate it and shat the knobs - even the stoopidly-loud Twin was far superior with a distortion pedal used.
4x12?
Mebbe - a 4x12 will improve pretty much any amp, even a Cigarette amp.
Then again, I know not which of the (seemingly obscure) Ronald Jones you reference.
And I haven't played thru a 4x12 (Sound City w/ Celestions, Silverface Bassman 50 w. head) since gigging one at Exit in 1994.
Even my bass rig izza 2x12".
I only ever use stereo guitar mic'ing a mono amp, or using a pedal DI.
