Dumb Question Time:
I just got this doodad:
From the back it looks like this:
Here's the dilema. It looks like either the ins or the outs are banana plugs. Where can I get Banana plug to 1/4 " converters? Are there such things?
Pax, Steve

Re: Dumb Question Time:
Hmmm... why would they be over there by the power supply? I'd hook up a voltmeter and see what's coming out of those banana jacks before hooking up any audio stuff.
What's it look like inside?

Re: Dumb Question Time:
I don't have any internal pics. It does look like the banana plugs go to the circuit board and not anywhere near the power supply.Scodiddly wrote:Hmmm... why would they be over there by the power supply? Re: Dumb Question Time:
are those trim pots on the left (on the back?)? Like the kind you stick a tweaker screwdiver into?
You could just make a banana plug adaptor, they sell banana ends cheap at RadShack. I'd check with a voltmeter, though. Green Yellow Red, Green Yellow Red, with one Black connector beside them doesn't make a lot of sense as far as inputs and outputs for two channels go. I'd want to make sure it wasn't some crazy control voltage for an analog synth or something.
I dig those "stove" knobs, though.

Steve, I'd be willing to have a look-see at that monster and see if we can't wire you up some cables!

Re: Dumb Question Time:
You're sure those are trim pots?? They look like nothing so much as old RCA jacks. If the panel didn't clearly indicate two channels, I'd say this thing had mono I/O on the RCA jacks, with control voltage inputs on the banana jacks...
Are there any bare surfaces in your house, such as tabletops or shelves? Those need to be filled with effects right away.
Re: Dumb Question Time:
That's what I'm thinking..... hot for in right, hot for in left, and ground, and hot for out right, hot for out left and ground.bigtoe wrote:looks like you could possibly treat em like barrier strips...that looks like a cool mystery machine....

I'm going to meet up with Stephen asap and we'll figure out the mystery. Maybe it's some fantastic home-brew Joe Meek style compressor that will melt our eyes!

Re: Dumb Question Time:
i'm thinking audio I/O on the banana jacks (which was more common before the 50s or 60s, iirc) and the RCA jacks are for linking and unlinking the two channels.
