Track to a Studer A827, mix to Ampex ATR-102.
ProTools is for pussies (but sometimes I use it too).

Re: Are you using tape?
I always track on my sony apr-24 2" 24 track. If I know that the master is going to a capable mastering house, it's mixed to 1/4" tape. If not, I use a digidesign mbox (yes, protools) to CHEAPLY get a 24 bit digital master.

I would suggest that you let yourselves be known by voting in the poll listed above. It is important . Potential tape manufacturers need to know that there are users out here. If it is to be supplied by ATR services with their new tape or investors trying to bring the Quantegy plant back online or whoever. Now is the time to speakup.
Thanks

Re: Are you using tape?
2", 1/2", 1/4". no computers are even ALLOWED in the studio. and i didn't respond to the other thread.
and i imagine that no accurate measure (percentage-wise or not) can be made based on who responded to the tape-user roll call. in the grand scheme of things, this is a small community of special individuals.
too many factors: who visits all the time but never posts? who visits once a month and posts once a year? who hasn't even heard of tape op? who doesn't use the internet? on and on and on...
the sales numbers are probably no big secret. anyone thinking about jumping into the tape business today would hopefully *not* rely on messageboard data.

Re: Are you using tape?
...A827 locked to pro-tools for additional tracks and editing...mix to A80 1/2" as long as i can still find tape...just had to buy some slightly used...scary!!!
Re: Are you using tape?
Track to 1" 16 track, overdubs in Pro Tools. Tape and Pro Tools across the console, print to another 24-bit Pro Tools rig. My current mastering engineer of choice doesn't have a tape machine, but he also can't do anything about it either.
...and Pro Tools is really only for the men who know how to use it.

Looking at the forum stats, I see that just over 400 folks have viewed this thread. From the responses, only 5% are using tape. Be sure to vote here; http://messageboard.tapeop.com/viewtopic.php?t=25738

Re: Are you using tape?
My ghetto studio uses standard SVHS stock for my black ADAT and 1/4" for my 4 track and 2 track analog machines....
