this is pretty simple and works for me pretty well, find a groove for your Dr.REX player that gives you thegroove or feel that kind of works for ya.
Load the loop onto the sequence page and copy it for a about 5 min or so.
Then go to Redrum and "instead" of programming the thing, play the samples via your controller along with the groove from the Dr. REX.
The DR. Rex basically is just a fancy metronome that helps you enter in your beat with a little more feel than the standard click. Make sure to turn "OFF" the quantize on input or your back to stiff land. Then just mute the Dr. Rex, listen back and correct any really off beats you entered. I sometimes record everything to the loop and do my drums last. Hope this helps.
