There's the 'Poll' back towards the beginning of the thread that asks questions like "would you be willing to pay $24 for aluminum case" and how you feel about gold vs platinum and highest price you'd be willing to pay for the mic pair. You guys might spend a few minutes going through the first few pages until you find it and then fill it out. It will provide a consolidated source of opinion regarding these matters.

This whole deal feels a little like a crap shoot but I think it's cool and fun.

Very generous of the organizers. :D

I was originally voting for the HRM-4 but I now think the HRM 2 is just fine. platinum and hard case would be great.

Hard case, but wouldn't detachable cable be better? Correct me if I'm missing something here......

HARD CASE yes!!! fuckin' A ... gold ....platinum yellow cream puff...!! who gives a fuck!!...as long as it has an XLR input and some type of ribbon responding to sound

the model with the detachable cable is different - we haven't heard it, and it has a grill design which is less sonically effective. It probably has the same electronics, but it seems like a bit more of a risk.

Detachable cable = unknown quantity. Attached cable = identical to the rebranded NADY and PPA mics.

Detachable cable = cable you don't have to use, attached cable = cable you're stuck with for life.

Final pricing and ordering.....

Here are final instructions and costs for the Ribbon mics. I will attempt to answer all your questions in this one post, inevitably I will forget something.
Pricing
HRM-2 in case =$95.00 each landed in Seattle, (mics+duties+shipping+brokerage)
Shipping (48 states) = $9.00 pr. includes insurance and packaging.
PPA 10% = $19.00 per pair
TOTAL per PAIR = $218.00 delivered to your door
There CAN be some slight additional charges
Extra Charges are incurred to us for running credit cards and PayPal, these will be passed along at the following rates (the rates we are charged)
Check / Cashiers check / Money Order = No Charge
Visa/Master card = 1.9%
Amex = 2.95%
Pay Pal = 3.2%

This is for the HRM-2, attached cable, color should be some dark shade of grey, no logo, hardcase, platinum head. PLEASE NOTE, these are NOT matched pairs, just 2 mics.
This is the mic with the cylindrical head that is chopped off flat on top.
See http://city-state.net/ribbon/ and click on HRM-2 to see the mics.
.
As we missed the deadline for the Chinese New Year (where they shut the country down for a few weeks) it is probably 45 days for the production run and another 25 or so on the water. This would be a worst case I believe.

Pacific Pro is taking 10% to do all of the headache work (putting it together, billing, shipping ect.) this was a fair amount for 100 mics, as we move towards higher numbers there is probably a little left in the kitty SO, we will warranty the mics for 30 days. This should weed out any defective units. After that you are on your own. We will provide a place to send any that may need repair in the future. I will put a little disclaimer in that if some huge problem with the mics shows up, we will not be able to cover it all. But that wont happen, will it?

If you are still in after all of this then here is what you need to do:

Email to;
ribbonmic@pacificproaudio.com
the following information

1) Name
2) Company name if desired
3) Address (no PO boxes this will go UPS)
4) City, State, Zip
5) Phone number
6) Method of payment
7) Number of mics in pairs
8) Favorite lunch time snack

I think that covers everything?
If this goes smoothly and everybody is happy, then maybe we want to dabble in the co-op idea? I have thought about doing something like that for years, maybe the time is nigh.

Thanks All!

Hi Garth,

I just sent my info.

Do you have a preferred method of recieving payment for the mics? I can mail a check immediately or whenever accounts are set up or, if credit card is easier for you, the extra 5 bucks or so would also be fine with me as well.

How and when do we pay?

Thanks for doing this.
