'68 telecaster bass through a '72 sound city bass concord combo rig. Yeah right! Not as often as I'd like! usually one of my carvin basses through the sansamp. For a bass player, it's all in the chia anyway.

yeah man, double cutaway, two hum's, coil taps; Gibsons: suck it!

but really, I think the necks on these are smoother than a Paul's. I personally like the necks on Fenders, but I just love the balls of those Hums through the meat of the Artist. 30 lb guitars rule!!!!

Hey, love your quote too.

My friend says to me: "Hey, I just went to a Steely Dan show!"

I says: "WOW! That must have been BOORING!"

we both laughed our asses off.

You'd have to put a gun to my head to get me into a Steely Dan show. I'd probably still think about it for a minute...

After all the press and good things said about that album against nature or whatever..I did a little digging and listened to some Steely Dan, wanting to know what the fuss is since it's a little before my time (I'm 24).

I heard a few songs from a few different albums...it's complete and total bullshit. Those guys should be computer programmers...or they could work for the phone company or something...they kind of have that look. They should definitely put the instruments down.
steely dan sucks, and so do mesh hats

I didn't get SD, but I have friends that love it. They like to dance. I do like the sound of "Do It Again" though...

Rig - re: my strat > realtube > hot rod deluxe
I like my strat, but I think I would be happier with a Gibson style guitar, such as an ES335. I don't like the Strat bridge area (why are the knobs so damn close to the strings/bridge ?), but like the neck.

Nice! I've been wanting to get most of your setup. I am curious how the Blues Jr sounds using the EL84s, curious about the Line 6 Delay modeler, want very bdaly an ES335. and dig the VOX.

I also use a Crybaby 535 (forget the exact model) with the knobs and switches.

Next guitar: ES335 (or copy/epiphone)
Next pedal: Tubescreamer
Next amp: ?
Next speakers: celestion vintage 30s, maybe weber

What, no Hammond players out there? Didn't think so.

I have two rigs... my live rig is a 1958 Hammond B3 with a Leslie 122 that has a newer JBL woofer in it and a (believe it or not) Peavey horn driver. The Peavey sucks in the studio but it rules live because it cuts through anything.

My studio rig is a 1954 Hammond C2 with TrekII percussion added and a stock 1952 Leslie 21H which the most gorgeous sounding Leslie I've ever heard. There is nothing like a Jensen V21 driver being powered by four NOS Tung-Sol 5881s! The thing is a true inspiration to play.

Both organs and Leslies have been completely re-capped.

Hey Erich,
My 335 copy is cool because with the Rust driver kicked in, I can get almost any note on the guitar to sustain/feedback forever. VERY fun to play.
I've never tried swapping the tubes in the Blues jr. That could be cool.
The older I get, the more I like small amps. For recording, always, but I've grown to like little amps for jammin' :) More nasty!

Well, I always thought the Blues Jr. used 6L6's like its bigger brothers the hot rod deluxe and deville, but just found out recently the Blues Jr. uses EL84's. I think Vox AC30's used them, and I use them in Yellow Jackets (6L6 > EL84 converters) in my Hot Rod Deluxe. So I am curious to hear how a Hot Rod style amp sounds using EL84's straight.

Note: I noticed an improvement when swapping out my sovtek el84's that came with the yellow jackets with JJ/Tesla EL84's...

mmm 335...

I like my realtube - driving the preamp stage of my hot rod deluxe, it can get from growly to fuzzy.

I think I currently have a Sovtek 5751 or a electro-harmonix 12AU7 in the pedal...

sweet! I love my head and was turned onto it by once playing the Slash model (they're exactly identical, as far as I know, except for the slash and jim marshall signatures. You're a happy camper.
