Uses for songs
Uses for songs
Can y'all help me think of ANY uses for music that may exist? I mean to be as specific as possible. Here are the ones I have though of: movies in theaters, tv movies, tv shows, tv commercials, radio broadcast, radio commercials, radio shows, live performances, video games, internet broadcasting, MP3s. I can't think of any others. Any help would be appreciated.

I'd add Religious ceremonies to the list.

PSA's
Industrial applications, stuff like in house training videos for big companies, trade show videos, that kind of bullshit.
Wedding videographer guy puts music in the wedding videos.
Barmitzvah video guy probably does the same thing.
you cant sum it up by just saying "music for picture"? You can break it down into two categories if you wanted to get all film school on it, diegetic sound, the music IN the scene, say, actor turns on the radio, the music there. and then Non diegetic music, music with no sync in the scene, but layed over to some kind of cue. this would encompass most music, stuff over titles, score, ambience, etc.
then there is public utility. Muzak in elevators, airports, shopping malls and the worst offender, casinos. IF you ever go into a casino, people pay psychologists to research casino music in a big bad way, all MAJOR scales and usually two to three different lines at once so you cant distinguish one not from another so it comes out liek this big major blur. I recorded a movie in a casino a few years ago and it wasnt until te third day that we even noticed the music pumped in to the place, crazy evil.
PsyOps in war. Yes, this actually happens and is not some fantasy that Coppola thought would be cool in a movie.
some kinds of selfserve mechanical devices have a music cue to get your credit card back, stuff like ATM machines, gas pumps, etc.
New cell phones tend to use a scale of notes for the ringers now.
theres more that Im not thinking of, but a lot of this stuff overlaps.
Oh, you left of ROCK AND ROLL RECORDS.
damn...
