Maybe it was Bobby Brown. Or Bobby McFerrin.

PBR is actually still a staple in Chicago, and probably always will be.

Re: posse in the studio?
No lame stereotype rock beverage? BWAHAHAHAHAHA!
Indie guys drink beer. Whatever's 'in'.
Punks drink beer. Whatever's cheap.
Metal guys drink beer. Whatever's available.
80's metal guys go for vodka. Both are transparent. Not a coincidence.
Hard Rock guys drink Southern Comfort mixed with Coke. They're old and feeble and can't take Jack anymore.
Goths drink absinthe. But they wish it was black, like their soul.
Stoner/Doom guys drink Jack straight. If you've been sitting between a pile of Green and Sunn amps all night without earplugs, you want to get drunk as fast as possible since the hangonver is much better than the headache you have right now.
Nu-Metal guys don't drink anything because they'd get in trouble with their moms if they did. Then they'd write a song about it. They're worse than goths.
Can't think of any more. More later. Damn, I'm bored.

Re: posse in the studio?
I had a friend in Hayward, near oakland. had a pro studio where he booked, among others, rap bands. Got his gear ripped off a couple of times (at gunpoint). I remember back in the day, I had a couple of rappers from oakland over at my nice middle class house to record a demo. They ripped a mic stand off, no big deal, but you really have to watch them. I personally wouldn't do any rap --- primarily because I hate everything it stands for, but secondly, if theyr'e real hoodlums, and their raps are true, you're increasing you chances of getting ripped off a thousand fold. Let them rip someone else off.
Re: posse in the studio?
Not to put too fine a point on it, but aren't you all painting rap with a rather big brush? Yes, there's all the thug bullshit, but there's also a lot of smart, sensible indie-style hip hop that isn't going to bring with it the posse or the theft or anything. Check out the Dalek interview in our own Tape op to start. . . .

It would be cool if it was lionel ritchie when he got up on his solo career.
someone had to start it officially.
The Tshirt Im wearing now says "henesee, offical posse beverage"
Perhaps Im not seeing it because Im in it, but at least rock and roll doesnt have a lame stereotype beverage...
dave
Do you really have a shirt that says that?
Man, thats funny....I have a friend who'd die for that shirt!
Although Jack Daniels DOES make a regular appearance in rock lore....thats kind of the rock beverage, isnt it? Sorta?

Rolling Rock was definitely the indie rock beer here in Cincinnati for a while. I don't know though, the last year I've been seeing (or maybe just noticing) more and more PBR. You can't really argue with the taste.aurelialuz wrote:PBR must be a NW thing. is it my imagination or is rolling rock the ohio stereotype?

Re: posse in the studio?
I don't thing Rolling Rock has ever really been an "indie" beer here in cleveland. In my sub-indie band we drink PBR cuz it's 10 bones a case. One time one of the guys brought Natural light, I told him to take that shit back to the freshman dorm. If you're real hardcore around here, you go for Carling Black label, it's like drinking chemicals.
