One big difference between LE and HD is the internal processing math. LE works at 32bit float - HD works at 48bit fixed. LE also has a lot more simultatneous track # limitations. If you go with PT - spend the extra cash for HD if you want a really serious core for your studio. If you go native - I think SAWStudio, Nuendo, or Samplitude are much better bets than PT LE.
